November is the month of Christmas decor put up a little early and a whole lot of Mariah Carey and Micheal Bublé everywhere. Brands too piped in with Christmas-themed posts, contests, and giveaways. If they weren’t posting Christmas greetings, they were participating in popular memes, publishing brand-related posts, and conducting giveaways.

Here are a few posts that stood out to us while curating #UnmetricBrandStars.

Who knew in-flight meals could look this good?

Now that our tastebuds are all sophisticated, airline meals need to up their game too. This photo of Etihad Airways’ in-flight meal captured attention on Facebook, garnering over 398K interactions.

Keeping Christmas traditions alive

And by traditions, we mean the annual John Lewis & Partners Christmas advert. A cornerstone of British pop culture, the release of this year’s ad generated as much a buzz as usual. This video was the brand’s most engaging post in November.

Not to point fingers, but…

Quite a lot of brands tapped into the pointing fingers meme in November, garnering a lot of interactions. Brazilian food delivery brand iFood published this tweet, its second-most engaging tweet in November.

Outlanderish travel plans

Visit Scotland has always been active on social media. Put that together with this beautiful offering for fans of The Outlander, and you have a brand star right here. This tweet was Visit Scotland’s most engaging tweet in November.

When literary memes spark engagement

SparkNotes is an interesting study in branding and social media engagement. Their pop culture-laden sassy takes on classic literature have been winning them quite a lot of engagement on Twitter. This funny tweet about Moby Dick was one of their most engaging tweets in November.

These posts show that the most engaging social content is usually topical, involves contests and giveaways, and piggybacks on popular culture.
