When the clock strikes midnight on January 1st, 2020, social media platforms will be overrun with posts wishing people a happy New Year. With so much noise to cut through and even the idea of just wishing people a happy New Year a seemingly cliched idea, marketers need to think outside the box with their New Year’s campaigns on social media.

So what can a brand do? We at Unmetric looked at the top engaging New Year social media posts across the globe. Brands focused on one of two things in their posts published on social media: Humour and motivation. They either brought out their funny side and used wit and humor to their advantage, or talked about the idea of new beginnings and new opportunities.
