It’s that time of the year when we all get a little reflective – on content, strategy, what worked, what didn’t etc. It helps to have charts and data at your disposal that tell you exactly what trends emerged and that’s where we’ve got you covered.

On Unmetric, we have a cool Twitter chart  – The Engagement Score Moving Averages.

What is a Moving Average? In long term data, it is the average of small subsets – in our case, 7 day and 30 day time periods – plotted together. Moving Averages help smoothen out short term fluctuations in data – giving you a bird’s eye view on changing trends accouting for volatility in content hits and misses. Here’s how you check it out –

Step 1. Select a Time Period

Pick a reasonably long time period – a quarter or two quarters, to effectively see patterns in engagement.

Step 2. Head over to the Twitter Stats tab

Under Analyze > Account, jump into the Stats tab. Here you can view the 7 day and 30 day engagement score moving averages for the brand and the industry.
